Training with a Non-profit is Different

Are you interested in being an HVAC technician? A welder? What about a career as an electrician? These are skilled-trades that are and always will be in-demand. Veterans in these industries are retiring and there remain insufficient numbers of young people to take their place. Thus, the wages they earn have skyrocketed.

Everyone has seen commercials from the for-profit vocational schools offering these programs. The difference between CLC, Inc. and the typical vocational school is that their goal is to make a profit. The cost of enrolling in many of these programs is $28,000-32,000! CLC's programs are much shorter in length and are funded mostly by governmental and foundational grants. As a requirement to continue having internal funding, graduates must be be placed in the respective industry they were certified in.

These programs also come with the added benefit of providing students with employable job skills, employability assistance, and industry certifications at reduced cost – and often no cost at all. That means no student loans to repay for years to come! Because CLC has an interest in ensuring placement in the industry you are trained in, the job developers work with more than 100 employer partners, including five labor unions. The job developers assist students with writing proficient resumes, conducting mock interviews, preparing an “elevator speech,” and provide direct referrals to employer contacts. In many cases, the students are offered career opportunities before their graduation.

In short, the staff here at CLC are vested – personally, professionally, and passionately. Our success is based on the success of those we train, which is why we work even harder to ensure they attain and maintain high-paying careers in the fields of their choosing. This is the motivation behind our passion.
